The story of the movie starts with the scene where Haider's father Dr. Hilal Meer goes With the terrorists, The head of the terrorist group was injured by bullet, he goes there with them to examine him.

After that the story takes a plot twist, When Dr.Hilal Meer did an operation on the head of the terrorist. And suddenly next morning the army forces attacked his house and hide Dr.Hilal Meer, taking him to a strange place instead of going to the police station or Army force-based camp.

Army burned his house. This story belongs to Srinagar. The place where people think that who is caught by the army because of supporting terrorist activities, he/she got the tag of Disappeared by the local public. Now who is caught by Army, his wife becomes half- widow until she gets the news of her husband's death. And his children can neither have any government job nor any chance to move out of India.

Then Haider came to Srinagar after completing his studies. He came to know about his father. He went to his house which was totally destroyed by the attack. He recalled his memories with his father. He was totally taken aback. He went to meet his mother who was at his uncle's house. He went there and saw that they both were singing lovingly being lost in each other. He noticed that her mother was happy instead of being sad.

They both saw him and started their mellow drama that they were not in any inappropriate relationship. Haider ran away from there being sad. He met his schoolmate Salman &Salman. They both were brothers. They both got contracts to follow Haider everywhere from Haider's beloved Arshia's father. He was head of the police. Salman & Salman took him with them to their place so that he can stay there since he had not any place to live at.

He came to know about Roohdaar through Arshia. Roohdaar was his father's friend in prison. Roohdaar called Haider to meet him at the bridge and took him downtown. That was very popular for terrorist activities. He explained everything about Haider's father that his own uncle killed his father. Somehow Roohdaar was succeed and he escaped. His uncle killed his father and threw him in the Jhelum River.

His father sent a message via Roohdaar to Haider to take revenge for his father's sake and requested him to kill his uncle. He even described how he would kill him. His father said,
''First shoot his both eyes. One eye for making you an orphan and betraying me. And the second eye for inappropriately seeing my wife.'' And after that, he pleaded to kill him mercilessly.

He started to hate his mother because of her character. Haider was fascinated by his father because of his nature. His father used to believe in humanity. Haider's mother didn't like the kind and helping nature of his father. Haider's uncle was a lawyer and spy in the army. And because of having powers, he became a politician. Haider's mother and uncle decided to get married. Now Haider was broken because it was clear as crystal that her mother betrayed his father and him too.

Haider wanted to confirm that Roohdaar has given correct information about his late father. So he started to act mad, showing that he has lost mental stability. And decided to dance at his uncle's wedding and through the dance he decided to show all things happened and how his uncle betrayed his own brother and snatched his sister-in-law. He danced at the wedding and showed all things. You can watch the video here as a preference.

Before the wedding, he also tried to kill his uncle to make him suffer but he spare him because his uncle was in Namaz. Shakespeare used to believe in supernatural activities. So that Vishal Bhardwaj(Director) also represented the same feeling of Shakespeare in the movie.

He ran away after their wedding. He started to live in an old house, right next to the graveyard. He also spent some time with Arshia in that house. During that Arshia came to know that Haider has a gun in order to kill his uncle. So she informed his father. Her father went to protect his uncle since his uncle was a politician. In the fight Arshia's father got shot by Haider. Arshia got the news that her father was no more. She was shocked after knowing that her own love has killed her father, who was everything to her. So she also killed herself.

At Arshia's funeral her brother Ziyaqat came home. After ceremony he saw Haider. So he lost his control and his blood boiled seeing Haider crying near Arshia's grave. He started to beat Haider. They both were fighting until Haider's uncle came with security. And his mother came with Roohdaar. Ziyaqat fainted because he was injured.

Now Haider and his uncle were fighting. Accidentally, the missile blasted and in that blast, Haider's mother died. Haider's uncle's body divided into two parts. His body till his torso remained. That was the end of the movie. In the end, there was only Haider alive character, Haider spares him because of his mother's kind moral words.

Shakespeare gave a tragic end to Hamlet by death, but an audience loves happy endings in movies so Vishal Bhardwaj wanted to give a happy or an open ending to the movie so at the end only Haider was alive character.

I like many things in this movie like...

# Father-Son unconditional love and trust in each      other.
# friendship like Dr.Hilal Meer and Roohdar.
# Father-Daughter love and an unbreakable bond.
